SpaceOMID Company was founded on November 21, 2018, by Dr. Hossein Shahrabi Farahani, the project manager of the national Omid satellite, in collaboration with a group of students from Amirkabir University. Our goal is to design and build lightweight and economic satellites for the development of satellite constellations in low Earth orbit. This approach helps in the development of indigenous space technologies and reduces the costs of space accessibility.
Our first project was to design and construct the "Kosar" satellite, which plays a crucial role in advancing the Iran's space technologies. This satellite represents the initial step in the development of indigenous technologies in the space sector. By focusing on the design and construction of affordable satellites, we aim to increase access to the space for scientific, commercial, and research purposes.
Our second project is the "Hod-Hod " satellite, designed as a CubeSat with the mission of creating a dedicated platform to provide international narrowband Internet of Things (IoT) services. Hod-Hod saves messages from ground users and transmits them to selected locations. Its advantage lies on providing international coverage and services to remote, forested, and mountainous areas. This satellite is most applicable in agriculture, transportation, logistics, and environmental sectors.
One of our main priorities is nurturing a skilled generation for the country’s space industry. By focusing on the education and training of young talents, we aim to create a conducive environment for the growth and development of local expertise in this field. Accelerating technical teams to participate in space projects is also on our agenda. This approach allows young teams to gain practical experience and play a significant role in the future of the space industry.
By providing the necessary support and resources to these teams, we pave the way for significant advancements in space technologies. Additionally, we place special emphasis on smart space-based applications. By focusing on utilizing modern technologies, we seek to optimize the use of satellite constellations and improve their efficiency in various missions.
Through collaboration with experienced individuals in the space field and knowledge transfer to young teams, we strive to create a dynamic and innovative ecosystem. These collaborations contribute to the development of knowledge and technology in the space sector and strengthen the country's space industry.
